Davide Renne, the Italian fashion designer who had recently taken on the role of Creative Director at the renowned fashion house Moschino, has tragically passed away just nine days into his new position.
Renne, who was 46 years old, succumbed to a sudden illness, leaving the fashion world and Moschino's parent company, Aeffe S.p.A., in profound grief.
Massimo Ferretti, the Chairman of Aeffe S.p.A., expressed his shock and sorrow over Renne's sudden demise: "There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing during this dramatic time."
Before joining Moschino on November 1st, Renne had an extensive and successful career at Gucci, where he concluded his tenure as the head designer of women's wear.
His appointment at Moschino was met with great anticipation, and there were high expectations for his first collection, which was scheduled to be showcased in Milan in February 2024.
Reflecting on Renne's brief but impactful tenure, Ferretti remarked, "Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide quickly became loved and respected."
Upon announcing Renne's appointment in October, Ferretti described him as a "brilliant designer and a special person," praising his talent and personality.
A memorial service for Davide Renne is set to be held in Milan. His death represents a significant loss to the fashion industry and leaves a void at Moschino, where his vision and creativity had just begun to unfold.
