During a tour of the CS Wind windmill manufacturing facility, U.S. President Joe Biden made a light-hearted remark about a code that could "blow up the entire world."
This comment was reported by the New York Post on Thursday, November 30.
While touring the facility, Biden approached one of the workers and pointed to a device in his hand. "My Marine carries one of these.
It has a code that can blow up the world," the U.S. President said.
As noted by RBC, since the 1950s, the American president is always accompanied on trips by an assistant carrying the "nuclear football."
This briefcase contains devices and information that allow the president to order the use of nuclear weapons.
To initiate the use of nuclear weapons, the head of state needs to use special codes.
These codes are generated daily by the National Security Agency (NSA).
Biden's comment, while made in jest, highlights the immense responsibility and power vested in the role of the U.S. President, particularly in the context of nuclear capabilities.
