On Tuesday evening, Swedish rapper C. Gambino was fatally shot in a parking garage in Gothenburg.
Several Swedish media outlets, including the radio program P3 Krim, have reported on the incident.
C. Gambino, whose real name has not yet been disclosed, was 26 years old.
Aftonbladet reported that police received an alarm about the shooting at 10:40 PM on Tuesday. Gambino himself had called emergency services to report that he had been shot.
He also mentioned seeing a light-colored car leaving the scene at the time of the shooting. This car is believed to be a silver Volvo V70, which possibly drove towards the E6 highway.
Upon arriving at the Selma Lagerlövs Torg parking garage, the police found Gambino with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.
On Thursday afternoon, police reported a car fire in Hisingen, Gothenburg. Police spokesperson Fredrik Svedemyr stated that they are linking the burned-out car to Gambino's murder, although they have not confirmed the car's make or model.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
According to Aftonbladet, C. Gambino had ties to Gothenburg's gang scene and had previously conducted business with a known gang member. However, it remains unclear if his murder is directly related to gang activities.
C. Gambino was a prominent figure in Sweden's music scene.
Earlier this year, he won a Swedish Grammy for 'Hip-hop of the Year.' He boasted around a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and his latest single, "Sista Gång," was released just last Friday.
Throughout his career, C. Gambino released two albums: "Sin City" in 2022 and "In Memory of Some Stand Up Guys" in 2024.
