Canada has directly warned Russia that it will not tolerate activities that threaten Canadian security, as reported by CBC News.
Tim Warmington, spokesperson for Canada’s Ministry of Public Security, stated that the government is deeply concerned about increasing Russian actions, including cyber attacks, disinformation, and sabotage.
“The Canadian government is aware of and deeply concerned about the escalation of Russian actions, from cyber attacks and disinformation operations to sabotage. Canada directly expressed these concerns to representatives of Russia, unequivocally noting the inadmissibility of any threats to the security of Canadians," said Warmington.
While there is no immediate threat to Canadians, Warmington emphasized that Canadian special services and law enforcement agencies are working closely with allies to address this issue.
In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that Russia orchestrated explosions at DHL logistics centers in Leipzig, Germany, and Birmingham, UK. These incidents were part of a larger operation intended to ignite cargo and passenger planes headed to the United States and Canada.
