Two planes collided on the runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

Jet's Tail Damaged

The incident occurred when a Delta Air Lines aircraft preparing for departure struck a regional jet, causing significant damage to both planes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Delta Air Lines confirmed that one of its Airbus A350 planes, which was set to fly to Tokyo-Haneda, clipped the tail of a smaller CRJ-900 operated by Endeavor Air, which was scheduled to depart for Lafayette, Louisiana.

The collision left the regional jet’s tail damaged and the Airbus A350’s wing in need of repair.

A Deafening Sound

A passenger on one of the planes described the incident on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that it felt like "another plane cut the back of our aircraft." He mentioned hearing a "deafening sound of metal scraping" followed by loud thuds.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the collision to determine the cause of the incident.

This event follows a similar accident earlier this year at London’s Heathrow Airport. In that case, a Virgin Atlantic 787 being towed on the tarmac clipped the wing of a British Airways Airbus A350. No passengers were on board at the time, and no injuries were reported in that incident either.

Delta has assured passengers that they will be rebooked on other flights as necessary while the investigation is underway.
