CNN has released a comprehensive list of targets struck in the recent U.S. and British military airstrikes against Houthi forces in Yemen. According to the report, which cites information from Houthi representatives and the British Ministry of Defence, the overnight operation hit several strategic locations, including airports and military bases.
The primary targets listed include:
Kahlan Military Base in Saada Province.
Al-Daylami Air Base, located north of Yemen's capital, Sana'a.
The area of Hudaydah city airport on the Red Sea coast.
Taiz city airport and other facilities in the southwestern province of Taiz.
Abbs City Aerodrome.
In addition to these sites, the British Royal Air Force revealed that their operation focused on two military facilities utilized by the Houthis for drone launches. RAF Typhoon FGR4 fighters, aided by a Voyager tanker aircraft, executed the strikes using Paveway IV guided bombs.
The airstrikes specifically targeted several buildings at a facility in Bani, northwestern Yemen, known for launching reconnaissance and attack drones. Another critical strike was carried out at the Ebbs airfield, identified as a launch site for cruise missiles and drones over the Red Sea.
While the full extent of the strikes’ impact is still being assessed, early indications suggest a significant undermining of the Houthis' capacity to threaten merchant shipping in the region.
This joint military action by the United States and the United Kingdom, supported by allies including Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, marks a decisive response to the Houthis' activities in Yemen. President Joe Biden of the United States and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have both confirmed their nations' involvement in these targeted strikes.
