In a deeply unsettling incident amidst the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, visuals have surfaced online showing Hamas fighters parading a woman's naked and battered body through the streets of Israel.
The body was displayed in the back of a pickup truck, with a crowd surrounding the vehicle, echoing the fighters’ cries and spitting on the woman.
As reported by The New York Post, where the video also can be seen, the initial claim by Hamas was that the body belonged to a female Israeli soldier. However, this was later refuted by Adi Louk, who identified the woman in the video as her sister, Shani Louk.
Shani, a German citizen and tattoo artist, was confirmed to be the victim by her mother in a video message posted online, where she also appealed for more information regarding Shani’s whereabouts.
Shani’s cousin, Tomasina Weintraub-Louk, also confirmed her identity, expressing hope for positive news and describing the situation as a “nightmare for our family.”
Shani had reportedly been missing since Hamas militants took control of an open-air festival on Saturday morning, which she had attended. The music festival was one of the first sites targeted by the militants.
The ongoing conflict has seen a significant escalation with Hamas launching approximately 5,000 rockets into Israel on Saturday morning, followed by their infiltration into the country. This has resulted in the capture of several foreigners, including the reported injury of seven Nepali citizens and the taking of 17 hostages.
The situation remains deeply concerning, with around 500 people having lost their lives in the conflict in both Israel and Palestine.
