An overnight drone attack targeted the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia, causing a fire following at least two explosions early Wednesday morning. This incident was reported by Ukrinform, citing information from the Baza Telegram channel.
Details of the Attack
The attack occurred around three in the morning, as confirmed by local eyewitness accounts.
"Drones attacked the Ryazan Refinery. A fire started there. Eyewitnesses heard a rumble followed by two explosions," detailed the report.
Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to combat the blaze, which had engulfed parts of the facility.
The opposition’s Astra Telegram channel shared several photos and videos sourced from local social media, capturing the extent of the fire and the emergency efforts.
Experts suggest that this attack is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine to diminish Russia’s oil refining capabilities. The reduction in refinery output is expected to hamper Russian oil exports and has already led to rising fuel prices within Russia’s domestic market.
