Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp has voiced serious concern regarding reports that North Korean troops may be involved in Russia's war against Ukraine.
He addressed the issue on X, as reported by Ukrinform.
"Reports of the possible involvement of North Korean troops in Russia's war against Ukraine cause grave concern. This could lead to serious escalation. We are monitoring the situation and, if necessary, we will advocate a joint approach by the EU, UN and NATO," Veldkamp stated.
The concerns come after South Korea’s National Intelligence Service reported that North Korea plans to send 12,000 soldiers, including special forces, to support Russia—equivalent to four brigades.
On October 21, the UN Security Council held a meeting to discuss Ukraine's security situation, including military support to Russia from North Korea, Iran, and China.
