Elon Musk, the renowned American entrepreneur and billionaire, has once again stirred the imagination of space enthusiasts with his latest proposal.
City on Mars
Taking to his social media account on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk advocated for the establishment of a permanent, inhabited base on the Moon.
“We must create a permanently inhabited base on the Moon,” Musk declared, underscoring his vision for humanity's next giant leap.
This proposal is not Musk's first ambitious idea regarding space exploration. He has previously emphasized the importance of sending a mission to Mars, suggesting that such an endeavor could pave the way for building a new civilization on the Red Planet. His vision for Mars is nothing short of extraordinary. Musk has already conceived a name for the first Martian city—Bar.
According to him, constructing this settlement would be a monumental task, potentially taking up to 20 years and involving the transportation of several million tons of cargo. Moreover, he estimates that it would require the efforts of one million people to realize this dream.
Aligns With NASA Program
Musk's grand ideas are not just futuristic fantasies. They are grounded in his belief that humanity must become a multi-planetary species to ensure its survival and continuity. His company, SpaceX, has been at the forefront of developing the technology needed for interplanetary travel and colonization. The company's Starship spacecraft, designed to carry large numbers of people and cargo, is a critical component of Musk's plan for Mars.
Musk’s call for a Moon base aligns with NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and establish a sustainable presence there. The Moon base would serve as a stepping stone for further space exploration, including missions to Mars.
The idea of a permanent Moon base and a thriving city on Mars may seem like science fiction today, but with Musk's relentless drive and the technological advancements led by SpaceX, these visions are inching closer to becoming a reality. For Musk, the sky is not the limit—it's just the beginning.
