Following Donald Trump’s return to the U.S. presidency, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are calling for a more unified approach within the European Union.

Both leaders emphasized that Europe needs to work together closely to prepare for possible changes in its relationship with the U.S. under Trump’s leadership. This was reported by United24 Media.

Macron Calls for “More Peace and Prosperity”

Macron congratulated Trump on his victory and expressed his readiness to work with him again, hoping for "more peace and prosperity."

But Macron’s focus quickly shifted to Europe’s own strategy.

According to French government spokesperson Maud Bregeon, Macron reached out to Scholz to discuss the importance of Europe coming together instead of each country acting on its own.

Macron stressed that a “united European strategy” is essential to handle any potential challenges that may arise with the new U.S. administration.

Scholz Stresses the Need for EU Solidarity

Echoing Macron’s stance, Scholz urged European countries to “stand particularly close—and act united.”

He pointed to an upcoming EU meeting in Budapest on November 7, where he expects European leaders to focus on strengthening their cooperation.

Scholz noted that Germany and the U.S. share a long-standing partnership and said he believes Europe and America “are better off together.”

He emphasized the benefits of collaboration over conflict, especially as Europe prepares for possible shifts in U.S. policies under Trump.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also congratulated Trump, calling his win a “historic and decisive” victory.

While his message was positive, it highlighted Ukraine’s keen interest in keeping U.S. support strong, especially as Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy’s outreach showed a hope for continued cooperation, despite Trump’s previous skepticism about U.S. involvement in Ukraine.
