In the early hours of Wednesday, August 28, multiple fires broke out at oil depots in Russia's Rostov region.

The Governor of the Rostov region, Vasiliy Golubev, reported on Telegram that four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were shot down in the area, but not before one managed to ignite a fire at a fuel depot in the Kamensky District.

The fire was first reported around 3 a.m.

Videos posted by local residents on Russian social media captured the blaze and a massive pillar of smoke, showing several tanks engulfed in flames.

Preliminary reports indicate that the "Atlas" plant of the Federal Agency for State Reserves, a key facility supplying fuel to the Russian military, is among the affected sites.

This incident follows a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian military targets, including oil depots, airfields, and vessels.

Earlier in August, Ukrainian forces, in coordination with the Security Service of Ukraine and Special Operations Forces, targeted the Russian military airfield "Lipetsk-2."

The ongoing conflict has seen an increase in such attacks, further straining logistical support for Russian military operations. The fire in the Rostov region adds to the growing list of strategic military assets impacted by the conflict.

Authorities are working to contain the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
