Many people wash their hair daily as a routine, while others limit it to a weekly activity. But what does the expert say? According to Dagens.se, The Salon Guy, an experienced hairstylist and a well-known personality with over a million YouTube subscribers, has shared guidelines on how often one should wash their hair.
According to The Salon Guy, there's a plethora of advice on hair washing on the internet, but these tips often don't consider an individual's unique hair structure.
He believes it's entirely up to the individual to determine how frequently or infrequently they should wash their hair.
Wash As Needed
The Salon Guy says, "Based on my many years of experience as a hairstylist, I honestly believe you should wash your hair as needed. What does your scalp and hair require?"
For those whose hair easily gets dirty, perhaps due to work or physical activity, it is appropriate to wash their hair "as often as the situation demands."
No Disaster to Delay
He also advises that delaying hair washing will not lead to hair loss or any form of damage to the hair. It's not a disaster.
Risk of Overwashing
However, The Salon Guy warns that excessive hair washing is possible. It can lead to scalp dryness, especially if one uses unsuitable shampoos and hair products.
Expert's Advice
"In my view, it's ideal to wash your hair two or three times a week, for example, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays," adds the expert.
Use of Conditioner
When it comes to conditioner, The Salon Guy explains that it helps to detangle the hair and makes it soft and smooth. For people with thin or fine hair, excessive use of conditioner can make the hair heavy, and they should therefore only use it every other time they shampoo.
