The Democratic Party has officially chosen Kamala Harris as their candidate for the upcoming presidential election, with 99% of delegate votes in her favor.
Although she had already surpassed the necessary majority threshold last week, the formal nomination will be sealed by the party's leadership soon.
Now, all eyes are on her choice for a running mate.
According to Der Spiegel, the first joint appearance with her chosen running mate is planned for Tuesday evening at a campaign event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an important swing state.
Following this, the Democratic duo will embark on a campaign tour across key battleground states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
Harris's rise to the top of the Democratic ticket came after current President Joe Biden decided to withdraw from the race due to concerns about his age and mental fitness.
Biden endorsed Harris as his replacement, and the party quickly rallied behind her. Harris has since performed better in the polls than Biden did before he stepped down.
The nomination process was originally set for the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago from August 19 to 22 but was moved up due to deadlines for printing ballots in some states.
Delegates from across the country voted online, with voting closing on Monday evening.
