In a devastating car accident in County Tipperary, Ireland, four young individuals lost their lives. Among them was 18-year-old Grace McSweeney, whose boyfriend, Aaron Costin, has since paid an emotional tribute to her. The accident occurred on Friday evening when the car they were in collided with a wall.
The victims, all aged 18—Grace McSweeney, Luke McSweeney, Nicole Murphy, and Zoey Coffey—were on their way to celebrate their recently received exam results. Tragically, they were declared dead at the scene. Aaron Costin, who had been dating Grace for about two years, received a Snapchat message from her just before she got into the car. Minutes later, he was informed of the accident.
Aaron rushed to the crash site but was unable to get close due to the area being cordoned off. "I didn't want to believe it was their car, but when I saw it, I knew," he told the Sunday Times. Aaron described Grace as "bubbly, friendly, and one of the greatest women I've ever met."
The couple had been planning a trip to Amsterdam, where history enthusiast Grace wanted to tour the annex where Anne Frank had hidden. Their dreams were cut short by the tragic event.
Tributes have been pouring in for all four victims. Both Grace and Zoey were students at Presentation Secondary School, where they had just received their exam results. The school's headmaster, Michael O'Loughlin, expressed the community's grief, stating that both girls were "loved by everybody who met them."
The Garda, Ireland's national police service, has confirmed that an investigation is underway. Superintendent Kieran Ruane emphasized that the focus is on preparing an investigation file for the Coroner and expressed gratitude to emergency services who attended the scene.
