Trending Now

Election day is now over in the United Kingdom, and the Labour Party has emerged victorious in the parliamentary elections.

According to interim results, the opposition party has secured 326 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons, achieving the majority required to form a new government.

Big Change in UK Politics

This win ends the Conservative Party's control since 2010.

So far, the Conservatives have only won 71 seats.

Even though the vote count is still ongoing and will be completed by 07:00 local time, the Conservative Party cannot catch up to Labour, which is led by Keir Starmer.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has already admitted defeat and congratulated Starmer on his victory.

This is a major moment for the Labour Party, which has been out of power for over a decade.

The Path Forward

On Friday morning, Keir Starmer will meet King Charles III.

The King will ask Starmer to form the new government.

After this, Starmer will go to Downing Street and speak to the nation as the new prime minister.

This election result brings a new direction for the UK, with Starmer and the Labour Party set to lead the country forward.
