Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has blamed Western countries, particularly former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to Ura News, Lavrov made this statement during a press conference following the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Skopje, Macedonia, which was broadcasted on the Russian Foreign Ministry's YouTube channel.

Lavrov claimed that initial agreements with Ukraine were reached in late March in Istanbul, following negotiations.

However, the situation changed after Boris Johnson's visit.

"Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson came and said, 'let's fight a little more.' NATO and the European Union say that we are obliged to support Ukraine," Lavrov stated.

He further clarified that initially, even the Ukrainian representative, David Arakhamia, head of the "Servant of the People" faction, who was present at the negotiations with Russia last March, was in favor of resolving the conflict, noting the positive aspects of such a decision.

However, Kyiv is now against a diplomatic solution, according to Lavrov.

This accusation by Lavrov highlights the complex international dynamics surrounding the Ukraine conflict and suggests a Russian perspective that external influences, particularly from the West, are contributing to the prolongation of the conflict.
