Legal authorities in Romania have indicted Marta Dalida Achim, a lawyer accused of hiring a hitman to murder three individuals she believed were responsible for her son's death.

As reported by Agerpres and HotNews, Achim faces charges of solicitation to commit murder and issuing threats.

Prosecutors from the High Court of Cassation and Justice allege that between October 1 and October 30, 2024, Achim sought to convince an individual to carry out the killings.

One of the targeted individuals reportedly received death threats from her on August 8, 2024, via an intermediary.

Motivated by Her Son’s Death

Achim's son, who reportedly invested in cryptocurrency, died in the United Kingdom in October 2023.

She is convinced that he was either murdered or driven to suicide in a plot to steal his digital assets. Based on these suspicions, the lawyer allegedly provided the hitman with photographs and information about the three people she believed to be involved in her son's death.

Prosecutors claim Achim offered to pay the assassin €30,000—€10,000 for each target—along with additional expenses for transportation and lodging. She reportedly planned to obtain the funds by selling an apartment.

Legal Proceedings and Current Status

The case has been forwarded to the Bucharest Court of Appeal for trial. Achim, who has been suspended from both the Bucharest and Ilfov bar associations, is currently under house arrest.

This case, which highlights concerns about both criminal activity linked to cryptocurrency and personal retaliation, is expected to draw significant attention during court proceedings.
