lan Rocket, a 69-year-old retiree from England, found himself declared "dead" by a medical practice where he was attempting to re-register as a patient.
Cancer in Remission
Despite standing in front of the staff, he was told, with a grin, that he was no longer alive.
Rocket, who was previously diagnosed with colon cancer five years ago and is currently in remission, expressed his frustration at the situation.
He sought to revisit the practice where he had received treatment years earlier, only to be met with the shocking declaration of his death. When he requested to see his medical records, the staff denied his request.
Got Passport as Proof of Identity
Feeling distressed by the incident, Rocket went home to fetch his passport as proof of identity.
"It was really frustrating. I was totally stressed when they told me I was dead," he recounted. Armed with his identification, he returned to the office and declared, "Here, I’m alive!" However, his efforts were initially in vain.
It wasn't until 24 hours later that he was finally permitted to register as a patient once again. The practice later apologized for the misunderstanding, attributing it to a "technical problem" with their patient records system.
While the ordeal may seem absurd, it highlights the importance of accurate record-keeping in healthcare settings. Miscommunications like this can lead to unnecessary stress for patients who are already dealing with health issues. Rocket's experience serves as a reminder that even in the age of advanced technology, errors can occur.
