New tensions rise between the US and Russia as sanctions loom.

On June 12, the United States government announced that a new package of sanctions will soon be imposed on Russia.

In response, Russia is preparing a decisive reaction to the sanctions imposed by the US, as announced by Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov.

Speaking at a Russia Day event at the Russian Embassy in Washington, Antonov emphasized that while Russia is open to dialogue, it will not hesitate to respond to what he called "imposed confrontation."

"The US administration congratulated the Russian people with the announcement of the next package of sanctions," Antonov noted, as reported by TASS.

Despite the rising tensions, Antonov reiterated that Russia is willing to engage in fair discussions with the United States.

"We are not going to impose ourselves as partners. Russia is open to honest and equal dialogue if and when the Americans are ready for this," the Russian Ambassador concluded.
