Georgy Pirogov, a Russian citizen who mysteriously disappeared in Uzbekistan in July, was later arrested in Moscow. He has now confessed to charges of "high treason."

This information was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the Moscow City Court.

Pirogov did not attend the court hearing, choosing to decline participation. The judge read out a statement in which Pirogov admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and provided a confession.

Pirogov's lawyer requested that he be released under house arrest, citing his active cooperation with investigators since his detention.

Despite this, the judge decided to keep Pirogov in pretrial detention.

Pirogov’s acquaintances told ASTRA and Politzek-Info that he had left Russia for Georgia after the war began and worked there as an industrial climber.

On July 6, he vanished while on a business trip in Kungrad, Uzbekistan.

His car was later found in the city of Nukus, about 90 kilometers away, with both of his phones turned off.

Pirogov was eventually located in Moscow and arrested on charges of high treason.

The specifics of the case remain undisclosed, and it is unclear how he was brought back to Russia.
