NASA has once again been named one of America’s best employers for veterans.

Veterans Rated Employers

This recognition comes from a survey conducted by Forbes and Statista, which gathered feedback from over 24,000 veterans employed at companies with at least 1,000 employees across the United States.

Veterans participating in the survey were asked to rate their employers based on key factors such as work environment, salary, opportunities for advancement, and how well the company meets the needs and interests of veterans.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year that NASA has earned a place on Forbes’ list of top employers for veterans, reflecting the agency’s long-standing commitment to the military community.

A Long History With the Military

According to NASA’s Veterans Employment Program Manager, Deborah Sweet, the organization’s support for veterans goes beyond hiring.

Many veterans within NASA continue their dedication to public service by supporting space exploration and science missions.

“NASA has a long history of collaboration and commitment to the military community,” said Sweet.

"In addition to the many military members who have been part of our Astronaut program, many of our civil servants are veterans who chose to continue serving by supporting NASA’s mission after they hung up the uniform.”

Across its various departments, NASA veterans contribute a wealth of knowledge in areas like technology, transportation, supply-chain logistics, and public affairs.

The skills these veterans bring are invaluable, and NASA continually seeks ways to increase veteran representation within the organization.

As part of these efforts, NASA has expanded the SkillBridge Fellowship Program, which allows transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience by working at NASA.

For veterans who have served honorably, NASA also offers special hiring authorities and veterans’ preference options, making it easier for them to secure full-time roles.

This inclusion of veterans in programs, fellowships, and hiring efforts emphasizes NASA’s commitment to a diverse and skilled workforce, which is crucial for its complex missions.
