The Russian government is now trageting Yulia Navalnaya.

Russian opposition politician Yulia Navalnaya has been labeled a "terrorist and extremist" by Russia's financial watchdog, Rosfinmonitoring, according to the government agency’s website.

Earlier this week, a Moscow court arrested Navalnaya in absentia for “participation in an extremist community.”

Navalnaya, who pledged to continue her late husband Alexey Navalny’s work after his death in an Arctic penal colony in February, is currently living abroad.

Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation was labeled a “foreign agent” by the Russian government in 2019 and was declared an extremist organization two years later.

This designation made it illegal for Navalny supporters to operate within Russia.

Navalnaya's Response

Despite her recent addition to the list of "terrorists and extremists," Navalnaya has not yet been declared a “foreign agent.”

She mocked the Russian authorities for this oversight in a post on the social media platform X on Tuesday, writing, “Oh, so no usual procedure? Foreign agent, criminal case, then arrest?”

Navalnaya also reminded her followers that “Vladimir Putin is a murderer and a war criminal. His place is in prison, and not somewhere in The Hague, in a cosy cell with a TV, but in Russia — in the same colony and the same 2 by 3 metre cell in which he killed Alexey.”
