Scottish-born actor and musician David McCallum has passed away at the age of 90, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.
McCallum died of natural causes, surrounded by his family at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, as confirmed by a CBS spokesperson. He was best known for his role as Dr. Donald 'Ducky' Mallard in the popular crime drama series NCIS.
"David McCallum was beloved by audiences worldwide for over twenty years as the wise, quirky, and sometimes enigmatic Dr. Donald 'Ducky' Mallard," said NCIS executive producers Steven D. Binder and David North.
"But as much as fans may have loved him, those who worked alongside David loved him even more. He was a scholar and a gentleman, always gracious, a consummate professional, and never one to miss a joke. From day one, it was an honor to work with him, and he never let us down. He was simply a legend. He was also family and will be deeply missed."
In addition to his acting career, McCallum also had a 76-year-long career in music.
His most famous piece, 'The Edge,' was sampled by artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg for the intro and rhythm of their song 'The Next Episode.'
