The polls are closed, and the votes have been counted. The Labour Party has won the UK Parliamentary Elections.

Amid the celebration, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky joined in by congratulating Keir Starmer and the Labour Party of Great Britain on their election win.

Zelensky shared his message on the social network X.

Strong Allies

In this tweet, Zelensky noted the strong alliance between Ukraine and the UK.

"We will continue to defend and promote our shared values – life, liberty, and the international order based on rules," he stated.

He expressed hope for the new British government's success in both domestic affairs and in boosting the UK's role on the world stage.

"I look forward to close joint work on strengthening the Ukrainian-British partnership and restoring international peace and security," Zelensky added.

Thanking Rishi Sunak

Zelensky also thanked outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for the UK's strong support of the Ukrainian people in their fight against the Russian oppressors.

"Challenger tanks, Storm Shadow missiles, training of our F-16 pilots, and the first bilateral security agreement are just some of our joint achievements that Ukraine will never forget. Thank you, Rishi," he wrote.

The parliamentary elections on July 4 mean a change in government in Britain.

The Labour Party will have a majority in the new House of Commons. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has admitted defeat for his Conservative Party.
