Australian actress Nicole Kidman was unable to accept the prestigious Coppa Volpi for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday due to the recent passing of her beloved mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.

In a heartfelt statement read during the awards ceremony, Kidman expressed her deep sorrow, saying, "My heart is broken."
According to 20Minutes, the award was accepted on her behalf by the film’s Dutch director, Haila Rijn, who shared a touching letter from Kidman with the audience gathered at the historic Palazzo del Cinema. In her message, Kidman recounted her arrival in Venice only to receive the devastating news of her mother's death.
"Today, I arrived in Venice to learn that my wonderful and brave mother had just passed away," she wrote. "I am affected and need to be with my family, but this award is for her. She helped me and made me who I am."
Deep Gratitude
Kidman went on to express her gratitude for the opportunity to honor her mother publicly, stating, "My greatest gratitude is to say her name in front of all of you. My heart is broken. I love you all. Nicole."
