Tensions surrounding the Ukraine war have reached new heights as North Korean troops, reportedly wearing Russian uniforms, are stationed in Russia, according to the Pentagon.
As reported by n-tv, these North Korean soldiers are moving near Kursk, close to the Ukrainian border.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin addressed this development at a press conference alongside his South Korean counterpart, Kim Yong Hyun.
It remains unclear whether the troops will actively join the Ukraine conflict, but their presence near the front lines is raising international concern.
NATO has confirmed the deployment of North Korean soldiers to Russia, considering it a serious escalation. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized in Brussels that the alliance is closely monitoring the situation and is discussing it with allies in the Indo-Pacific region.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that around 3,000 North Korean soldiers are already stationed in bases near the Ukrainian border and cautioned against the potential international expansion of the conflict.
This deployment suggests that North Korea may be expecting technological concessions from Russia in exchange for its military support.
