Fires erupted at two oil depots in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast and Perm Krai overnight on October 4, according to local authorities.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defense systems intercepted and downed six Ukrainian drones over Voronezh Oblast, six over Belgorod Oblast, one over Rostov Oblast, and one over the Azov Sea.

Voronezh Oblast Governor Aleksandr Gusev stated that an empty tank at an oil storage facility was struck during the drone attack but was later extinguished. This was reported by the Kyiv Independent.

A separate large-scale fire broke out at an oil depot in the village of Osentsy in Perm Krai, located around 1,800 kilometers northeast of Ukraine. The fire spread across fuel tanks and covered an area of 10,000 square meters, according to Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry.

No casualties have been reported in either incident.

Dagens.com was unable to verify Russia's claims.

In recent months, Ukrainian forces have launched a series of drone strikes targeting Russia’s oil industry, which plays a crucial role in funding Moscow’s war efforts.
