Gazprom Neft's Moscow Oil Refinery has temporarily shut down its Euro+ refining unit following a fire that broke out after a suspected drone attack on September 1.

Reports suggest that multiple drones targeted several regions in Russia, including Moscow, during the night.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that one of the drones was intercepted and shot down near the refinery.

Unfortunately, the incident still led to a fire that damaged one of the plant's buildings, as reported by Russia's state-owned news agency Ria Novosti.

The Euro+ unit, which handles about half of the refinery's processing capacity, is expected to be out of operation for five to six days while repairs are made, according to sources quoted by Reuters.

Last year, this refinery processed 11.6 million tons of crude oil, but the full impact of the damage on its overall production is still being assessed.

The refinery works to resume operations.
