A video capturing an unconventional scene on Munich's Ludwigstrasse has ignited a firestorm of debate on social media.
The footage shows a woman elegantly dressed, walking down the street holding a leash. The other end of the leash is wrapped around the neck of a man following her on all fours.
"How to explain to the kids?"
The video quickly went viral, drawing a range of reactions on social media.
"Do you want to play like that? Ok! I have nothing against it. But don't do it on the street. How to explain to the kids that the lady on the leash is not leading a dog, but... a husband?" questioned one Instagram user.
The sentiment was echoed by many who felt that such displays, even between consenting adults, should not be made in public.
Police weigh in
In response to the public outcry, German newspaper Bild reached out to the Munich police for a statement. The police noted that they were already familiar with the couple but saw no reason for intervention.
"The sight of these two people may be unusual, but it is not a crime," the officers conveyed.
The fine line of public behavior
Bild journalists pointed out that role-playing or fulfilling fantasies in public could potentially be considered an offense. However, the police clarified that unless the couple engages in inappropriate or overtly sexual behavior, there would be no grounds for intervention.
