Polish authorities have been searching for four days for the wreckage of an "aerial object" that flew into the country on the morning of August 26, during a massive Russian airstrike on Ukrainian cities.
The object is believed to be a Shahed attack drone. It crossed the Polish border and then disappeared from radars in the Tyszowce commune, south of Hrubieszów, as reported by RMF24.
Despite extensive efforts by the Polish Territorial Defense Forces, the crash site has yet to be located.
The search operation has already covered about 2,800 hectares of the area, focusing on the vicinity of the villages of Volitsa Snyatynska, Barkhachuv, and Dombrova—west of Tyshovce and closer to the town of Zamość, approximately 50 kilometers from the Polish-Ukrainian border.
The search efforts involve not only infantry but also horse patrols, helicopters, and drones.
