Poland's military has just received a powerful boost with the arrival of advanced equipment from South Korea.

The delivery includes nearly 30 vehicles, with five K2 Black Panther tanks, twelve K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, and twelve Homar-K rocket launcher modules, according to a statement from the Armament Agency on its X platform.

The latest shipment comes just weeks after a previous delivery of military equipment from South Korea in late August 2024.

According to WP Tech, these recent deliveries are part of larger defense contracts signed between the two countries, including Poland’s order for 180 K2 tanks and 212 K9 howitzers.

The Armament Agency confirmed that more deliveries are in the pipeline.

Cutting-Edge K2 Black Panther Tanks

At the heart of this delivery are the K2 Black Panther tanks, a modern design comparable to the latest versions of the Leopard 2 and M1A2 Abrams tanks.

Weighing 55 tons, the K2 is crewed by three soldiers and features an automatic loading system that keeps the crew safe in combat situations. Powered by a 1,500 hp diesel engine, the K2’s 120 mm CN08 gun can deliver accurate shots over long distances, with a firing rate of up to 10 rounds per minute.

Additionally, the K2 can be equipped with the KAPS active defense system, designed to intercept incoming projectiles, offering an added layer of protection.

The K9 Thunder Howitzers and Homar-K Launchers

The K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, also part of the delivery, are known for their impressive offensive capabilities.

Developed by Hanwha Defense, these howitzers are armed with a 155 mm gun capable of firing up to 50 km with enhanced ammunition. The K9 is a highly mobile artillery system, providing essential support in battlefield conditions.

The Homar-K multiple rocket launchers further strengthen Poland’s long-range strike capability.

These launchers are designed to fire a variety of missiles, including ballistic and artillery types, with ranges extending several hundred kilometers.

Integrated with modern radar and artillery systems, the Homar-K launchers offer Poland real-time threat detection and precise target engagement, allowing for effective responses in various combat situations.
