A reactor at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant has experienced a failure, leading to power outages across the region.

The incident was confirmed by Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Research Center, who cited information from two independent sources.

“Another accident at the South Ukraine NPP,” Kharchenko stated, as reported by United24 Media.

He added, "Two extra queues of outages from Ukrenergo today, because the 600 MW reactor reduced its output. Most likely, it will be repaired next week.”

The reactor failure has raised concerns about Ukraine's energy stability, especially as the winter months approach.

Kharchenko warned that if a similar failure occurs during the winter, the country could face severe energy shortages.

The reactor in question is part of Unit No. 3 at the plant, which was shut down during Russia's missile and drone attack on Ukraine on August 26.
