More than 30 people were injured in a collision between two passenger trains in Prague's Libeň district this morning, reports Globe24.
Emergency services, including paramedics, doctors, and rescue crews, responded to the scene, implementing a trauma plan.
Initial reports indicated 10 to 15 injuries, but the number quickly grew as more individuals were treated.
By 10:15 a.m., emergency teams had transported 25 people from the site, with another 10 taken from Vysočany.
Most injuries involved head and limb trauma, including fractures, according to medical personnel.
Prague firefighters, along with the Railway Administration, worked at the scene. Photos confirmed the collision of two passenger trains.
The crash caused the closure of Čuprova Street in both directions, and train traffic between Prague Hlavní nádraží and Praha-Vysočany stations was suspended.
Disruptions are expected to last throughout the morning.
Train driver under influence
Police are investigating the incident alongside the Railway Inspectorate, with suspicions of general endangerment due to negligence.
A breath test revealed that one of the train drivers was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken for a medical evaluation, including a blood test.
The full investigation into the cause of the accident and the train driver's actions is ongoing.
