Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concerns over the U.S. supplying ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, labeling it an "additional threat."
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Putin stated that Russia plans to counter these missiles. According to N-tv.de, he criticized the U.S. for further entangling itself in the Ukrainian conflict, prolonging the suffering in the region.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian authorities confirmed receiving the missiles from the U.S. and successfully deploying them against Russian military bases.
According to government officials cited by the New York Times, the U.S. has delivered about 20 ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
These long-range weapons are equipped with cluster munitions, capable of causing significant damage over a large area, making them suitable for attacks on airbases housing planes and helicopters.
Putin's statement comes shortly after Russia's ambassador to the U.S. said yesterday that the consequences of U.S. actions will be serious.
