The Russian army has received a new shipment of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and BMD-4M airborne combat vehicles.

The vehicles were delivered by Kurganmashzavod, with published photos showing the armored units being loaded onto transport for delivery to military units.

These combat vehicles come equipped with additional protective kits, which include reinforced armor and mounted lattice screens. These upgrades are designed to safeguard the BMP-3 and BMD-4M from drone attacks and protect the sides from strikes by cluster munitions.

The additional protection, in the form of armored screens and anti-cumulative grids, is supplied with the vehicles and installed directly by the units within the Russian army. Additionally, the vehicles are fitted with "Cape" kits, which purportedly reduce their visibility in thermal and radar spectrums.

This was reported by Militanyi.

Kurganmashzavod also reported a 20% increase in production of BMP and BMD vehicles over the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year.

Some workshops at the facility are now operating around the clock to meet the state defense order.

This year, the company has been fulfilling additional commitments regarding the supply of BMP-3s to the Russian army, exceeding the originally scheduled volumes.

It is worth noting that the previous batch of BMP-3 and BMD-4M vehicles was delivered to the Russian army at the end of August, with the first batch of BMP-3s in 2024 arriving in February.

Earlier this year, a BMP-3 equipped with the Cactus dynamic protection system was observed in use by Russian forces. This system is believed to significantly enhance the survivability of Russian light armored vehicles against Ukrainian attack drones, which are heavily employed on the front lines.
