Romanian journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu has stirred controversy with his latest commentary on the U.S. presidential race, drawing a provocative comparison between former President Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler.

Divine Protection

In a Facebook post titled "Biden versus the Hand of God," Popescu likens Trump to the Nazi dictator, suggesting that Trump is similarly shielded from consequences by a higher power, according to Ziare.

Popescu draws an historical parallel to an incident from September 28, 1918, when British soldier Henry Tandey reportedly spared a wounded Adolf Hitler. Hitler later described this event as a miraculous intervention by fate, which he believed was instrumental in his rise to power.

Popescu uses this anecdote to frame Trump’s current political situation, suggesting that Trump's seeming invincibility and ongoing controversies echo the historical narrative of divine protection that Hitler used to justify his destiny.

Hand of God

According to Popescu, Trump's continued prominence in the race, despite his legal troubles, is akin to the "Hand of God" that spared Hitler.

He points to Trump’s recent legal victories, including decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court and a Florida judge appointed by Trump, as evidence of this protection. Popescu also critiques President Joe Biden, noting his recent televised debate performance as a factor that might contribute to Trump’s perceived advantage.

Popescu concludes with a grim observation on the power dynamics at play, implying that Trump's current standing could be seen as an outcome of divine favor or destiny, much like the historical narrative surrounding Hitler
