The Kremlin has welcomed reports that the U.S. may be pausing military aid to Ukraine, calling it the "greatest contribution to peace."

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to the news on March 4, saying, "We still need to learn the details, but if this is true, it is a decision that could indeed push the Kyiv regime toward the peace process."

His comments was reported by Meduza.

According to a senior U.S. Defense Department official quoted by Bloomberg, the Trump administration paused military supplies to Ukraine on March 3.

The move has not yet been officially confirmed, but it comes just ahead of Trump’s highly anticipated speech to Congress on March 4.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump hinted at a major announcement, writing: "Tomorrow night will be big. I will tell it like it is."

His administration’s approach to Ukraine has been under scrutiny, especially as he continues to push for a negotiated settlement rather than prolonged military support.

Russia Sees It as a Turning Point

Peskov framed the potential aid freeze as a critical moment in the war, arguing that the U.S. has been the "main supplier of this war" and that stopping military support "would likely be the greatest contribution to peace."

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sees things differently.

Just days earlier, on March 2, he stated that a peace deal with Russia remains "very, very far away," emphasizing that Ukraine cannot negotiate from a position of weakness.
