On August 6, Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kharkiv, striking a residential area in the heart of the city.

The attack caused significant damage to a nearby medical clinic, local authorities reported to The Kyiv Times.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the attack, noting that the missile strike led to a fire and caused extensive damage to the clinic's structure.

There are concerns that people may be trapped under the rubble, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

Preliminary reports suggest that Russian forces used an Iskander ballistic missile in the attack, Syniehubov stated on Telegram.

Emergency services are currently on the scene, working to assess the extent of the damage and search for potential casualties.

This attack is part of an ongoing pattern of intensified strikes on population centers in Kharkiv Oblast, following a new cross-border offensive by Russian forces in the northern part of the region that began in May. Although Ukrainian troops have managed to halt the Russian advance, several border settlements remain under Russian control.

As emergency operations continue, the full impact of this latest strike is still being determined. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
