Russia Sues Ukrainian Government Agencies and American Banks

Russia’s Prosecutor General has initiated legal action against Ukrainian government bodies and two American banks.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has filed a lawsuit in the Moscow Region Arbitration Court targeting several Ukrainian government agencies and two major U.S. banks, according to court records released on September 30.

This was reported by Interfax.

The lawsuit names the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, the National Investment Fund of Ukraine, as well as The Bank of New York Mellon and JP Morgan Chase Bank NA as defendants.

The exact nature of the legal action and the claims being pursued is currently unclear.

The Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia also filed for provisional measures in the same case, though details of these measures have not been made public.

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has yet to release a formal statement explaining the lawsuit.
