On the night of August 20, Russia launched a coordinated attack on Kyiv using drones and Iskander-K cruise missiles.

All targets were intercepted and destroyed by Ukraine's air defense forces, according to the Kyiv Military Aviation Authority (KGVA) as reported by RBC-Ukraine.

The missiles were intercepted before they could reach the capital, and the drones were also shot down without causing any damage or casualties, the KGVA confirmed.

According to the RBC-Ukraine, this was the 41st air raid alert and the fifth missile attack on Kyiv since the beginning of August.

On the same night, Russia also launched "Shahed" drones across Ukraine, with explosions reported in the Khmelnytsky region.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has faced relentless shelling from drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Border settlements are particularly vulnerable, often targeted by guided bombs and artillery.

Ukraine continues to push for more advanced air defense systems and seeks permission from Western allies to use provided weapons on Russian territory to counter air and sea missile carriers. Such permission has not yet been granted, allowing Russia to continue its attacks on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
