The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced the discovery of explosives and detonators hidden in packages from Germany and Italy.
These packages were intercepted in St. Petersburg and were allegedly intended for terrorist attacks in Russia.
The FSB also accused Ukrainian officials, naming Roman Mashovez, the deputy head of the presidential office in Kiev, as a key organizer.
This development was covered by Der Spiegel.
Hidden Explosives in Car Parts
The FSB released a video showing experts uncovering explosive components inside shock absorbers from a German manufacturer.
These claims, along with the video, have not been independently verified.
The FSB stated that a transport company brought these car parts into Russia, leading to several arrests, though no specific details were provided.
Accusations Against Ukraine
According to Der Spiegel, the Russian secret service stated that the arrested suspects were directed by Ukrainian officials. The FSB has issued a wanted notice for Roman Mashovez, accusing him of being a central figure in organizing terrorist activities in Russia.
Mashovez has been involved in military intelligence, coordinating military support for the Ukrainian army since 2014, and has been serving under President Volodymyr Zelensky since 2020.
Seeking European Help
The FSB has asked European intelligence agencies for help in identifying those behind these sabotage attempts.
So far, these requests have gone unanswered.
This incident is part of a series of accusations Russia has made against Ukraine during their ongoing conflict, including bomb attacks within Russian territory targeting Kremlin supporters and key infrastructure.
