A newly promoted Russian General has revealed in an interview with Russian broadcaster Russia-1 that the full-scale invasion of Ukraine is merely a "springboard" for a broader conflict with Europe.
The threat scenario for Eastern Europe continues to escalate.
Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev was recently promoted to Colonel General by Russian President Putin, according to the Kyiv Post.
In an interview on state-run Russia-1, recorded back in July but only released upon his promotion, Mordvichev expressed his belief that Putin's military actions will continue for an extended period and could potentially expand in the future.
"The war will last over a longer period. It makes no sense to discuss specific timelines... When it comes to Eastern Europe and the upcoming tasks, this will certainly require more time," he explained.
The interviewer then asked, "Is Ukraine just a springboard?"
"Yes, you are correct. This is just the beginning. I believe the proponents of this war will not stop there," he replied.
