A Russian Mi-8 military helicopter crashed near the village of Rovenky in the Belgorod Region, leaving the pilot injured.
The incident was reported by the opposition Russian Telegram channel Astra and confirmed by Ukrinform.
According to Astra, the crash occurred on March 21, resulting from a hard landing. Baza, another Telegram channel, detailed that the helicopter experienced mechanical issues, leading to the accident. Among the four onboard, one individual required hospitalization.
Reports suggest that pilot error was the cause of the mishap.
The crash site, Rovenky, lies close to the border with Ukraine's Luhansk region, currently under Russian control, and is situated over 150 kilometers from the main territory of the Belgorod region.
This area has seen increased military activity, with Russian volunteers from the Legion "Freedom of Russia", RDK, and the Siberian Battalion conducting operations.
Ukrinform also notes recent movements of Russian troops from the Ukrainian front to bolster defenses in the Belgorod region.
