Recent developments have heightened tensions between Finland and Russia, following Finland's decision to close its borders to Russian citizens. Previously, vehicles with Russian license plates faced restrictions, but the new policy completely prohibits Russian entry.

Finland's rationale for this move is reportedly due to Russia allegedly sending migrants to its border. However, Russia disputes this claim.

The situation escalated when the husband of Margarita Simonyan, Editor-in-Chief of Russia Today, issued a threat of invasion against Finland.

This was in response to Finland's refusal to accept the illegal migrants Russia is accused of sending across their border.

Anton Gerashchenko, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, shared a video clip on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) showcasing the threat.

In the footage, the TV host suggests that Finland's recent NATO membership has led to confusion, warning that their actions may leave Russia with no other option. Accompanying these statements, a graphic of a Russian tank heading towards the Finnish border was displayed.

It's important to note that Russian state television has a history of broadcasting threats against various nations. For instance, Germany was previously targeted with warnings that Berlin would end up in flames.

While these televised threats are alarming, their seriousness is often debated. Given the pattern of such rhetoric on Russian state TV, some analysts caution against interpreting these statements as concrete plans of action.
