Russian Strikes Across Ukraine Kill 5, Injure 21 in Latest Wave of Attacks

Russian strikes across Ukraine over the past 24 hours have resulted in at least five deaths.

Russian attacks across Ukraine have left at least five people dead and 21 others injured in the past 24 hours, according to reports from regional authorities on August 15.

The attacks also caused large-scale damage to infrastructure and residential areas.

Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all 29 "kamikaze" drones launched by Russia overnight, as well as three Kh-59 missiles reportedly fired from Kursk Oblast, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed.

Kharkiv Oblast

In Kharkiv Oblast, two people were killed and four others were injured in separate incidents.

Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that a drone attack on a vehicle in the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz, located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Vovchansk, killed a male and female combat medic from the Hospitallers Medical Battalion.

Three civilians in a nearby car were also injured in the attack.

A 64-year-old man was injured in Kupiansk when a Russian drone struck his car.

The region saw intense fighting, with four combat clashes reported near Vovchansk and Sotnytskyi Kozachok, along with nine attacks near Kupiansk.

Kherson Oblast

In Kherson Oblast, one person was killed and 13 others, including a child, were injured as a result of Russian attacks, according to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

The attacks damaged 16 houses, critical infrastructure, gas pipelines, and farm buildings.

A drone strike in the city of Kherson killed one man and injured two others, aged 62 and 75.

Earlier in the day, another attack on the city struck a house, injuring a 39-year-old woman, her 15-year-old daughter, and a 41-year-old man.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, four people—two men and two women—were injured by Russian shelling in Vasylivskyi district, as reported by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Russian forces targeted 14 settlements in the region 397 times over the course of the day.

Donetsk Oblast

In Donetsk Oblast, two civilians were killed by Russian shelling, Governor Vadym Filashkin reported.

One victim was in the village of Maksymilianivka in Pokrovsk district, while the other was in the village of Zoria in Kramatorsk district.

Russian forces shelled populated settlements in the region 10 times during the day.

Other regions across Ukraine, including Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, also came under attack, though no civilian casualties were reported in these areas.
