The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the "Southern" group of troops has taken control of the settlement of Kleshcheevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), according to a statement released on Wednesday.
The Ministry described the takeover as a result of "active actions" by their forces, which they claim have now "liberated" the settlement.
In the same statement, the Russian military reported significant damage to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region.
Specifically, it cited impacts on the manpower and equipment of the 33rd Mechanized, 79th Air Assault, and 116th Terrestrial Defense Brigades of Ukraine in the areas surrounding the settlements of Georgievka, Ostroye, and Konstantinovka within the DPR.
The Russian military claimed substantial Ukrainian losses, including over 365 military personnel in one day, along with the destruction of two armored combat vehicles, 18 vehicles, and several artillery pieces including D-20 and D-30 howitzers, as well as M119 and L-119 guns.
