During the night of August 13 and the early morning of August 14, Russian military forces carried out 21 separate shelling attacks across nine communities in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast region.

The attacks targeted border areas and settlements across the region, causing extensive damage and widespread panic among local residents.

According to a report by the Sumy Regional Military Administration, posted on Facebook, a total of 47 explosions were recorded across the affected areas.

The communities hit by the shelling included Sumy, Khotyn, Yunakivsk, Bilopol, Vorozhbyan, Esman, Shalygin, Seredino-Budsk, and Znob-Novgorodsk.

Details of the Attacks

In the Khotyn community, six explosions from airstrikes injured two residents.

Other airstrikes were recorded in the Yunakivska hromada (one explosion), Vorozhbyan community (eight explosions), and Bilopol community (eleven explosions).

Additional attacks included artillery and drone strikes.

The Krasnopil community was hit by artillery, while the Seredyno-Budsk community experienced both a drone attack and more artillery shelling. The Znob-Novgorod community also faced artillery strikes, with four explosions recorded.

In the Sumy community, a rocket attack caused one explosion, and a mine was dropped on the Shalygin community.

The Esman community was hit by two airstrikes and six mortar shellings.

These attacks are part of an ongoing pattern of increased shelling in the Sumy region, which is close to the Russian border.

The ongoing bombardment has left many areas without essential services like electricity and gas.

Just a day earlier, a Russian air and missile attack on Sumy injured one person and knocked out power and gas in part of the city.
