Serena Williams, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and one of the torchbearers at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, has recently found herself in an unexpected controversy.

Williams took to social media to express her frustration

While in Paris to enjoy the Games and support fellow American athlete Simone Biles, Williams experienced a less-than-ideal situation at a local restaurant, according to Ziare.

Williams took to social media to express her frustration after she and her family were denied access to the rooftop restaurant at The Peninsula Paris.

Despite the restaurant's empty tables, Williams claimed she was turned away, an experience she described as a first for her and her children. "Yes, @peninsulaparis, I've been refused access to rooftops before for dining, but never with my kids. Always a first," Williams posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The hotel apologized for the inconvenience

The Peninsula Paris, a five-star hotel renowned for its breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower, responded publicly to Williams' complaint.

The hotel apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that the rooftop bar was indeed full and that the visible empty tables were reserved for their gourmet restaurant, L'Oiseau Blanc. The hotel assured Williams that they would always be honored to welcome her in the future.

Williams' post quickly garnered significant attention, with over 4 million views. Reactions to the incident were mixed. Some supporters criticized the restaurant's decision, arguing that denying a celebrity like Williams was unacceptable.

Others contended that no special privileges should be granted to celebrities at a fully booked establishment.
