Several individuals sustained injuries following a serious accident at a fair in London on Sunday evening, according to Sky News.

The mishap occurred at a fair located in the southern part of the English capital, where an amusement ride encountered problems. Specific details about the incident remain unclear, but emergency services responded promptly.

Victims Taken to Hospital

Two victims, a woman and a man in their 40s, suffered life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving medical care at a hospital.

Additionally, a young girl around 10 years old and a 50-year-old man were also hospitalized but have since been discharged.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.

A police spokesperson described the situation as a "serious accident," emphasizing the need for a thorough inquiry.

"A comprehensive investigation is being conducted to identify the cause of the fault," said a city spokesperson. "Further safety inspections are being carried out on all rides and attractions at the fair."

Commitment to Safety

Another representative expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift response and support to the affected families.

"We appreciate the rapid assistance from the rescue teams and the support they are providing to the families involved," the spokesperson told the BBC.

"The safety and well-being of our visitors is our top priority, and we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all."

The fair, organized by the Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park, has been a staple event since 1974. "The municipally organized show has been held as a free event in the park since 1974, drawing over 120,000 people throughout the weekend," reports The Guardian.

Local politicians have extended their condolences and are pushing for a detailed investigation while expressing gratitude to those who assisted during the incident.
